Graber Outdoors History
Graber Outdoors is a small 2nd generation business that was founded in 1999 by an Amish man seeking to support his family while working at home on the farm.
Jacob Graber retired from many years in the construction industry and built a small shop and dove into a lawn and patio business proudly formed as JAM Wood Products LLC
Jacob and his sons hand built lawn furniture, playground equipment, and gazebos and players for many years.
John, the current owner, grew up working with his dad in the shop and quickly developed a passion for design and building outdoor structures.
Next Steps…
In 2011, John purchased the business from his father and was struck by a onset of industry changes which greatly hampered his business model, primarily due to CNC routers being able to manufacture 20 Adirondack chairs in a fraction of the time that they could be hand built in the shop.
In 2015,the decision was made to for a DBA as Graber Outdoors, and evolve into doing more on-site construction, while leaning on their previous 15 years of experience in the outdoor structure industry.
Trex decking quickly became the material of choice and Graber Outdoors grew rapidly.
Our Current Plan…
In 2020, John brought on 2 of his cousins as business partners, in order to better manage and develop the business.
Graber Outdoors is today the largest Trex deck building firm in the KC metro market, yet continuing to lean and rely on their early roots.
Get to Know Our Owner
John Graber has more than 15 years of experience in the lawn and patio industry. He is committed to helping our clients improve their outdoor living spaces.
John purchased JAM Wood Products LLC from his father in 2011. It was the business his father had founded in 1999. John grew up manufacturing lawn furniture, gazebos, and play sets with his father and siblings in their woodworking shop.
A passion for outdoor living spaces along with a creative eye developed in the woodworking shop, compensated for his grade school education. His formative years were spent building in lieu of high school.
Continuing the family tradition of building in partnership with the best composite deck company in the nation has been great.
